Bangkok has Michelin-starred restaurants, Bib Gourmand places, and many more Michelin-selected restaurants. This page keeps every starred restaurant in one list, grouped by tier, so you can compare three, two, and one star side by side.
This guide currently tracks two three-star, eight two-star, and 31 one-star restaurants. For good-value cooking without a tasting-menu bill, use the separate guide to Bib Gourmand restaurants in Bangkok. The list changes with every Guide edition, so always check the current Michelin Guide and the restaurant’s own booking channel before planning around a specific award.
Use fine dining in Bangkok when you are still choosing by cuisine, occasion, and area rather than award level.
What the Michelin Guide means in Bangkok
Michelin coverage in Bangkok spans very different kinds of eating. A tasting-menu restaurant, a hotel dining room, and a famous street-food shop can all sit inside the same guide.
That is part of what makes Bangkok interesting. The city does not have one fine dining style.
Three Michelin star restaurants in Bangkok
Bangkok’s three-star list is short: Sorn, for Southern Thai cooking, and Sühring, for contemporary German cooking. These are destination meals you plan around rather than add casually to a day out.
A three-star dinner is not just a better version of a normal dinner. It is usually longer, more structured, more expensive, and more dependent on the restaurant’s current menu. Do not choose only by the number of stars: cuisine, room style, location, pacing, and your group’s comfort matter more than the award once you are inside.
Two Michelin star restaurants in Bangkok
The eight two-star restaurants are Baan Tepa, Chef’s Table, Côte by Mauro Colagreco, Gaa, INDDEE, Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie, Mezzaluna, and R-Haan. They are serious special-occasion restaurants, but not all the same kind of night:
- Thai tasting menus: R-Haan and Baan Tepa treat Thai cooking with the same time and detail as any European room.
- Progressive and Indian: Gaa builds a modern, ingredient-led menu that does not fit a single national label.
- French and international: Le Normandie, Côte by Mauro Colagreco, and Mezzaluna cover classic French and Riviera-Mediterranean cooking, often with riverside or skyline settings.
If you are choosing for guests, think about spice tolerance, dress code, wine interest, and how long everyone wants to sit. The riverside rooms are popular for anniversaries and celebrations and fill fast on weekends.
One Michelin star restaurants in Bangkok
The one-star tier is the broadest starred group, and often the most practical one for visitors. This is where you will find Thai tasting menus, French contemporary rooms, progressive Indian dining, sushi, Korean contemporary cooking, and modern international restaurants, sometimes with easier booking than the most famous rooms.
It is still not casual by default. Use cuisine as the first filter, then check location, booking format, price, and whether the restaurant fits your group. A counter seat, a formal dining room, and a spicy Thai tasting menu can all be excellent, but not for the same night. Do not treat one star as a compromise: in Bangkok, this is often where the most interesting choice lives.
Beyond the stars
Stars are only part of Michelin’s Bangkok selection. Bib Gourmand places, often street-food shops, shophouses, and casual restaurants, are usually more useful for visitors who want strong food without a full fine dining budget; they are covered in Bib Gourmand restaurants in Bangkok. Michelin-selected restaurants may have neither stars nor a Bib Gourmand, but they can still be worth your time.
Booking and budget
Book early, especially for small rooms and famous names. Some starred restaurants require deposits or credit card guarantees, and cancellation windows can be strict.
Not every starred place is formal: Jay Fai holds a star for street-food cooking over charcoal, and it is famous for long waits. Two-star tasting menus typically run into the several-thousand-baht range per person before wine. Check tax, service charge, drinks, pairings, dress code, and cancellation terms, because the final bill can be very different from the headline menu price.
My Bangkok advice
Pick by mood, not only by award. A serious tasting menu, a riverside hotel dinner, and a queue-heavy street-food counter are completely different nights out.
If you only have one special meal, choose somewhere that fits your area and schedule. Book a three-star restaurant when the meal is the main event of the day, keep the hours before it simple, and do not schedule it after a tiring sightseeing route. A great dinner is less fun after a stressful cross-city ride.

For a special occasion, yes. The 2-star tier is often Bangkok's sweet spot: serious enough to feel memorable, but varied enough in cuisine and setting that you can choose by mood.
