Accommodation
Compare Bangkok areas by transport, trip style, and everyday convenience, then browse hotels, serviced apartments, guesthouses, and long-stay options.

Bangkok accommodation works best when you choose by area and transport first, then by hotel style. A beautiful hotel can still be the wrong choice if every day starts with a long taxi ride through traffic.
For first-time visitors, Siam, Silom, Sathorn, the riverside, Asok, Phrom Phong, and Ari all solve different problems. Some are better for shopping, some for food, some for nightlife, and some for quieter long-stay routines.
Serviced apartments are useful if you want laundry, a kitchenette, or a more independent rhythm. Hotels are better when you want service, breakfast, pools, concierge help, or a short-stay base with fewer daily decisions.
Airport access matters most on arrival and departure days. Use the Bangkok airports guide when comparing Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang, then choose the main stay around what you will do each day.
My Bangkok advice: do not book only by star rating. Check the nearest station, the walking route, and the part of the city you will use most often.
| Stay priority | Areas to compare | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Easiest first visit | Siam, Asok, Silom | Premium prices, crowds, and hotels marketed as closer to rail than the walk feels. |
| Temples and old Bangkok | Rattanakosin, Banglamphu | Less convenient travel to Siam and Sukhumvit; check late transport and food. |
| Food-focused trip | Yaowarat, Thonglor, Silom | Yaowarat is street- and shophouse-led; Thonglor is spread out and more expensive. |
| Business and longer stay | Sathorn, Phrom Phong, Ari | Choose by the actual office, school, or daily route—not the reputation. |
| Upper Sukhumvit routine | Phrom Phong, Thonglor, Ekkamai | Many properties and venues sit deep inside traffic-heavy side streets. |
Use the Bangkok stay-types guide to compare hotels, serviced apartments, hostels, guesthouses, and rentals. The Money in Bangkok guide covers card holds, deposits, service charges, and payment decisions.
