The MRT Blue Line links many of Bangkok's key districts, shopping areas, and interchange stations across the city.

The MRT Blue Line is Bangkok’s most useful cross-city metro route. It links northern transport hubs, the Ratchada and Rama IX corridor, Sukhumvit, Silom, Yaowarat, the old town, and western Thonburi without relying on road traffic for the long section.

Where the Blue Line is strongest

Use the line for Chatuchak Weekend Market and Bang Sue district, the offices and nightlife around Ratchada and Rama IX, and Asok via Sukhumvit MRT. Si Lom serves Silom and Lumphini Park. Wat Mangkon is the main rail stop for Yaowarat, while Sam Yot and Sanam Chai serve different sides of Rattanakosin. West of the river, the route continues through Bangkok Yai and the Phetkasem corridor to Lak Song.

Interchanges and direction

Important transfers include Tao Poon for the Purple Line, Chatuchak Park for Mo Chit BTS, Sukhumvit for Asok BTS, Si Lom for Sala Daeng BTS, and Bang Wa for the Silom Line. These are transfers between named stations and may require a walk or new paid area.

Tha Phra is a junction rather than a simple midpoint. Check the destination displayed on the platform and train, especially when travelling around the western side of the route.
