Lak Si District

Lak Si covers 22.841 km² around Chaeng Watthana and Vibhavadi Rangsit roads in northern Bangkok. Its two khwaeng are Thung Song Hong (16.886 km²) and Talat Bang Khen (5.955 km²), divided by Khlong Prem Prachakon. Thung Song Hong accounts for almost three-quarters of the district’s land, so a Lak Si address can be much farther from the named interchange than the district label suggests. Lak Si had 104,701 residents in 2017, a dated administrative count.

The district was separated from Don Mueang in 1997. Its name means “fourth milestone,” referring to a marker on Khlong Prem Prachakon, the canal linking Bangkok toward Bang Pa-in. Government Complex, public agencies, offices, universities, residential communities and transport infrastructure now bring large weekday flows into the area.

Government Complex corridor

Government Complex MRT is the clearest Pink Line stop for the large Chaeng Watthana government campus. Confirm the agency, building, and entrance before travelling: the complex is too large for a generic map pin.

Chaeng Watthana 14 and National Telecom stations serve other office and residential parts of the corridor. A station may be close to the correct road but still require a walk, shuttle, or motorcycle connection inside a large site.

Lak Si interchange area

Lak Si MRT connects the Pink Line corridor with the SRT Dark Red Line at Lak Si railway station. Follow operator signs because the systems, platforms and tickets are separate. Thung Song Hong and Kan Kheha are other Dark Red Line stops in the district, useful for different residential and institutional destinations.

Living and airport access

Lak Si suits government staff, students, office workers and residents with north-Bangkok routines. Restaurants already covered on WhyBangkok include Chai, Chang-Wang-Imm and Akkee, showing that the district serves more than office appointments. Each is a separate road journey, however, rather than part of a compact dining quarter.

Don Mueang Airport is nearby by road and connected indirectly through the Dark Red Line, but “near the airport” does not guarantee a direct terminal journey. Traffic, interchange time and the exact pickup side still matter.

Use the district for a named agency, campus, office, event, or local home. Visitors centred on old town, Sukhumvit, or the river should compare the full transfer time before staying here.
