Silom Village

A charming heritage complex on Silom Road selling Thai handicrafts, silk, and traditional souvenirs in a garden setting with nightly cultural shows.

District: Bang Rak

Area: Silom

Silom Village is one of Bangkok’s oldest purpose-built shopping complexes for Thai handicrafts and cultural goods. Set back from Silom Road in a low-rise complex of wooden and Thai-style buildings around a shaded garden courtyard, it offers a more atmospheric alternative to the air-conditioned malls for those looking for silk, lacquerware, ceramics, Buddhist amulets, traditional puppets, and Thai-style home décor.

The retail units inside mix established silk merchants — including branches of well-known Thai silk brands — with smaller independent vendors selling antiques, jewellery, and bespoke tailored garments. Quality is generally reliable and prices are fixed (with some room to negotiate at independent stalls), which makes it popular with visitors who want to buy with confidence rather than wade through Chatuchak’s thousands of stalls.

The courtyard restaurant hosts traditional Thai cultural performances most evenings, typically featuring classical dance, puppet theatre, or Thai boxing demonstrations — check the schedule on arrival. This makes Silom Village a reasonable dinner option if you want to combine eating with a taste of traditional Thai performance arts in a low-key, non-touristy venue.

Silom Village is open daily from around 10:00 to 22:00. It’s on Silom Road between BTS Chong Nonsi and Sala Daeng, walkable from both. Nearby Patpong Night Market offers a livelier, more chaotic contrast for evening browsing.
