Patpong Night Market

Bangkok's most famous night market on Patpong Road, packed with souvenir stalls between the two red-light entertainment streets in the heart of Silom.

District: Bang Rak

Area: Silom

Patpong Night Market is one of Bangkok’s most visited night markets, setting up every evening along Patpong Road — the narrow lane that runs between Silom Road and Surawong Road, flanked by the area’s well-known adult entertainment venues. The combination of a busy tourist market with the surrounding neon-lit bars makes for a distinctly Bangkok atmosphere that’s unlikely to be replicated anywhere else.

The stalls specialise almost entirely in tourist souvenirs: T-shirts, fridge magnets, Thailand-branded clothing, fake designer watches and bags, wooden carvings, Thai boxing shorts, silk scarves, and novelty items. Prices are highly negotiable — starting prices are typically three to five times what a fair deal looks like, so bargain hard and be prepared to walk away. Unlike Chatuchak or JJ Weekend Market, Patpong is not a place to find authentic Thai crafts or genuine antiques, but for tourist keepsakes it’s convenient and centrally located.

The market gets going around 18:00 and runs until around midnight. The surrounding bars and restaurants on Patpong 1 and Patpong 2 mean the area is busy until well after the stalls close. If you’re based in Silom and want a browse-and-dinner evening, the proximity to BTS Sala Daeng (2 minutes’ walk) and MRT Silom (5 minutes) makes it the most accessible night market from the central hotel corridor.

For higher-quality goods in the same area, Silom Village on Silom Road is a short walk away and worth combining with a Patpong visit.
