Bangkok Transport Directory

This is the directory for Bangkok's rail systems, lines, and stations. Use it when you already know that the journey involves BTS, MRT, or Airport Rail Link and need the correct line, interchange, station code, or nearby area.

Every published system and line hub is part of WhyBangkok's permanent transport backbone. Stations remain linkable entities inside those hubs: selecting one opens its local map without creating a thin standalone article.

How the directory is organised

1. System: choose BTS, MRT, or another network.
2. Line: confirm the corridor and direction.
3. Station: open the map and confirm the exact name and code.
4. Last connection: plan the exit, walk, taxi, motorcycle, bus, or boat that completes the journey.

Bangkok does not have one universal rail system

BTS, the MRT lines, and Airport Rail Link have different operators and payment arrangements. A transfer shown on the map may require leaving one paid area and entering another. Do not assume one stored-value card or day pass covers every line.

Use the BTS guide for the East and North Sukhumvit hubs, Silom, and Gold lines. Use the MRT guide for Blue, Purple, Yellow, and Pink line context. Fares, promotions, and first or last trains are deliberately left to the official operators because those details change.

Airports and non-rail journeys

Airport Rail Link serves Suvarnabhumi, not Don Mueang. Use the Bangkok airports guide before choosing the airport route. Boats, buses, road transport, and walking remain important but do not need duplicate system pages here until the site has verified route-level data to support them.

Use exact names, codes, and directions

Bangkok has station names that resemble a road, district, landmark, or stop on another line without creating a direct interchange. Confirm the station code and line before boarding, then follow the destination shown on the platform. At junctions and terminal branches, the named destination is more reliable than a loose “inbound” or “outbound” label.
