Pratunam Market
Bangkok's biggest wholesale clothing market with rock-bottom prices on garments, fabrics, and accessories in a chaotic open-air maze.
Pratunam Market is the beating heart of Bangkok’s wholesale clothing trade, a dense tangle of open-air stalls and narrow alleyways centered around the intersection of Petchaburi and Ratchaprarop roads. It operates daily but is busiest in the early morning (from around 5:00) when wholesale buyers stock up. Retail shoppers can visit anytime between 9:00 and 19:00. There’s no direct BTS or MRT station — the easiest approach is a short walk from BTS Ratchathewi or a canal boat to Pratunam Pier.
Prices here are among the lowest in Bangkok, with t-shirts starting from 50 baht and dresses from 100 baht when buying in bulk. Even single-item buyers can find deals, though vendors may quote slightly higher per-piece prices. The market is strongest for women’s fashion, basics, and activewear, with a large fabric section for those looking to have garments tailored. Quality varies widely — check stitching and material before committing, and be prepared to walk away if something doesn’t feel right.
The market spills into surrounding streets and connects to several indoor malls including Platinum Fashion Mall, Palladium, and Indra Square. For the best experience, dress light (there’s minimal air conditioning in the outdoor sections), bring cash in small denominations, and keep belongings secure in the crowds. The nearby Pratunam intersection has excellent street food stalls — look for the famous Pratunam chicken rice vendors that have been dishing out plates since the 1960s.
