Robinson

A popular Thai department store chain offering affordable fashion, cosmetics, and household goods across multiple Bangkok locations.

District: Bang Rak

Robinson is one of Thailand’s oldest and most recognisable department store chains, operating since 1979 and now part of the Central Retail group. Unlike the flashier international-leaning malls on the BTS line, Robinson caters to everyday Thai shoppers with a practical, no-frills approach to retail. The Bang Rak branch near BTS Saphan Taksin is one of the most accessible, but you’ll find Robinson stores scattered across Bangkok in locations like Ratchada, Lat Phrao, Srinakarin, and Bang Na. Most branches open from 10:30 to 21:30 daily.

The store layout follows a familiar department store formula: cosmetics and accessories on the ground floor, women’s fashion on floors 1–2, men’s wear above that, and household goods and electronics on the upper floors. Brands lean toward affordable Thai and Asian labels alongside some international mid-range names. Robinson runs frequent sales and promotions — the mid-year and end-of-year sales can offer genuine discounts of 30–70% on clothing and homewares.

For visitors staying outside the central tourist belt, Robinson is often the nearest place to pick up decent clothing, cosmetics, or a last-minute gift without the premium pricing of Siam-area malls. It’s also a good window into how everyday Bangkok residents shop — practical, value-oriented, and unpretentious. The attached Tops supermarket (found in most Robinson locations) is handy for groceries, snacks, and daily essentials.
