Khan Na Yao District

Khan Na Yao covers 25.980 km² along the Ram Inthra and outer-ring-road side of eastern Bangkok. Its two khwaeng are Khan Na Yao (12.917 km²) and Ram Inthra (13.063 km²), created as separate subdistricts in 2009. They are almost equal in area, but large roads and enclosed sites make routes less direct than that balanced map suggests. The district had 96,751 residents in 2017, a dated administrative count.

The name Khan Na Yao means “long paddy-field ridge,” recalling the agricultural landscape that preceded today’s roads and housing. Khan Na Yao became a separate district in 1997, using territory from Bueng Kum and part of Chorakhe Bua from Lat Phrao. Housing estates and local communities now share the district with hospitals, schools, shopping complexes and family destinations.

Pink Line access

Outer Ring Road-Ram Inthra MRT is the practical Pink Line stop for Fashion Island and The Promenade. Nopparat MRT, Khu Bon MRT and Ram Inthra Kor Mor 9 MRT serve other parts of the corridor.

These elevated stations follow the main road. Most homes and attractions still require a walk, shuttle, taxi, bus, or motorcycle connection beyond the station.

Attractions and shopping

Large destinations make Khan Na Yao more relevant to visitors than many outer districts, but they are separate trips rather than one walkable cluster. Siam Amazing Park advises Pink Line travellers to use Nopparat station and continue by bus or motorcycle taxi. Fashion Island has its own closer station. Confirm the entrance and return pickup point for either destination before treating them as part of one route.

Living tradeoffs

The district suits residents and workers with east-Bangkok routines. Shopping and everyday services are concentrated near the main roads, while deeper estates can offer more space at the cost of longer local travel. Jaidee Shrimp is one local restaurant guide, but a dining destination does not solve the wider last-mile question.

Who should choose Khan Na Yao

Use it for a named attraction, mall, hospital, school, or home. A central sightseeing base is usually more efficient elsewhere, even though the Pink Line now improves the cross-city section of the journey.
