ICONSIAM

A glittering riverside mega-mall with luxury brands, an indoor floating market, and spectacular views of the Chao Phraya River.

ICONSIAM is Bangkok’s most ambitious shopping development, a riverside mega-mall that opened in 2018 on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River. Getting there is part of the experience — free shuttle boats run every 10–15 minutes from Sathorn Pier (BTS Saphan Taksin), or you can take the Gold Line monorail from BTS Krung Thon Buri. The mall is open 10:00 to 22:00 daily, and the river views from the upper floors and outdoor terraces are worth the trip alone.

The ground floor (G floor) houses Sook Siam, an elaborate indoor market showcasing Thai street food, regional handicrafts, and cultural products from every province. It’s air-conditioned and tourist-friendly, with dishes priced between 40 and 150 baht — a great way to sample Thai regional specialities without navigating outdoor markets. Above that, ICONSIAM delivers serious luxury retail: flagship stores for Louis Vuitton, Dior, Apple, and dozens of other international brands fill the upper floors, alongside Siam Takashimaya department store.

For a more relaxed visit, head to the riverside promenade on the back side of the mall — it’s a lovely walk, especially around sunset. The top-floor restaurants have some of the best dining views in Bangkok. If you’re visiting on a Friday or Saturday evening, check whether the outdoor fountain show is running — it’s a choreographed water-and-light spectacle on the river terrace that draws big crowds.
