7-Eleven Thailand

Thailand's ubiquitous convenience store chain with over 14,000 locations nationwide, open 24/7 with surprisingly good ready-made food and essential services.

7-Eleven is so deeply woven into Bangkok life that many residents can’t imagine the city without it. With over 14,000 branches across Thailand — and what feels like one on every block in central Bangkok — it functions as a convenience store, snack bar, ATM point, bill payment centre, and late-night lifeline all in one. Every store is open 24 hours, 365 days a year.

For visitors, 7-Eleven is often the first stop after landing and the last before flying out. You can pick up a Thai SIM card (AIS, TrueMove, dtac), withdraw cash, buy transit cards, and grab a surprisingly good meal from the hot food counter. The toasted sandwiches (ham & cheese is a local favourite), onigiri, steamed buns, and microwave meals are staples for budget travellers and office workers alike. The coffee (branded “All Café”) is decent and dirt cheap at 25–35 baht.

Beyond food, 7-Eleven stores handle utility bill payments, top-ups for phone credit and transit cards, and even basic banking services through the counter. You’ll find basic toiletries, medicines, stationery, chargers, and adapters — often enough to save a trip to a larger store. The stores accept cash, credit cards, and mobile payment apps (TrueMoney, LINE Pay, PromptPay).

7-Eleven Thailand is operated by CP All, a subsidiary of the Charoen Pokphand Group, and has been in the country since 1989. The Thai operation has evolved well beyond the American or Japanese model, incorporating local products and services that make it genuinely indispensable. You’ll find unique Thai items like dried mango, instant tom yum noodles, and Thai herbal drinks that make excellent lightweight souvenirs.

Don’t overlook the small refrigerated section for affordable Thai desserts, yoghurt drinks, and fruit cups — all remarkably fresh for a convenience store. For anything more substantial, head to a full supermarket like Tops Market or Villa Market, but for daily essentials and quick meals, 7-Eleven delivers consistently across the city.
