The Emporium
A long-established upscale mall in Phrom Phong popular with expats, offering premium brands, a great food hall, and refined dining.
The Emporium was one of Bangkok’s first truly upscale shopping malls when it opened in 1997, and it continues to serve the well-to-do Phrom Phong neighbourhood as a reliable destination for premium retail and dining. Directly connected to BTS Phrom Phong via a skywalk, it sits across Sukhumvit Road from its newer sibling EmQuartier. The mall is open daily from 10:00 to 22:00 and has a slightly more relaxed, less crowded feel than the mega-malls in the Siam area.
The brand mix covers international fashion houses, premium beauty counters, and a solid selection of Thai designer labels. The top floors include a cinema and a well-equipped fitness centre. The basement Gourmet Market is a destination in itself — widely considered one of the best supermarkets in Bangkok for imported cheeses, wines, and specialty ingredients that long-term expats rely on. There’s also a strong food court offering a step up from typical mall fare.
The Emporium works best as a neighbourhood mall for those staying in the Phrom Phong or Thonglor area. It’s never as overwhelmingly busy as CentralWorld or Siam Paragon, which makes it a pleasant option for a calm shopping trip. Walk across the skywalk to EmQuartier to extend your visit, or head down to Benjasiri Park a few minutes away for some greenery after shopping.
