River City Bangkok
Bangkok's premier antiques and art shopping complex on the Chao Phraya riverside, with galleries, auction houses, and fine art dealers across four floors.
River City Bangkok is in a category of its own among Bangkok shopping destinations. Spread over four floors of a riverside building on the Chao Phraya, it’s entirely dedicated to antiques, fine art, rare collectibles, and gallery retail — making it the first stop for serious collectors and the best place in Bangkok to browse high-quality Thai and Southeast Asian art without getting on a plane to an international auction house.
The first and second floors house permanent dealers specialising in Thai Buddha images, Cambodian antiquities, Chinese antiques, Benjarong ceramics, lacquerware, and vintage jewellery. Standards of authentication are generally high, and reputable dealers can provide certificates of provenance and handle the export documentation required for taking antiques out of Thailand. The third and fourth floors host rotating galleries, auction preview exhibitions, and temporary art shows — the monthly auctions attract serious buyers and are worth attending even if you’re only browsing.
River City is also notable as one of the anchor tenants of the broader Charoen Krung creative district, which has developed significantly since the opening of TCDC (Thailand Creative & Design Center) a short walk away. The ground-floor riverside restaurant and café are pleasant for a meal before or after browsing.
Access is via the Chao Phraya Express Boat (Si Phraya Pier / River City Pier), which makes it an easy addition to a river day trip that might include ICONSIAM on the opposite bank. Taxi or Grab from the Silom/Sathon area takes about 10 minutes. Open daily 10:00–20:00.
